Targeted treatment

Remove dust

Use a clean, wet broom to sweep the fine salt onto the carpet and remove the salt and dust with a hoover after 10 minutes.

Make it new

When carpets are used for a long time, the colour can change dramatically. To brighten up an old carpet, sprinkle salt on the carpet the first night and remove it with a clean, damp rag the next morning, the colour will be restored and the stains will be wiped away. Because salt attracts dust, even the smallest of dust particles can be cleaned up.

Remove glass scraps

If glass scraps are scattered on the carpet and are visible to the naked eye, use a sticky tape to stick them away from the remaining powdered glass scraps, use cotton dipped in water to stick them up, or sprinkle some rice grains and sweep them gently with a clean broom to make them stick to the rice grains.

Odour

Method 1: Carpets often have an unpleasant smell due to prolonged stepping on them. Add 4 cups of vinegar to 4 litres of warm water and wipe the carpet with a towel soaked and wrung out to effectively eliminate the odour.

Method 2: If you find that the carpet produces an unpleasant smell, sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda evenly on the carpet before going to bed and use a hoover to completely remove the baking soda the next morning. The baking soda will not only absorb the dampness from the floor covering, but will also eliminate food residues and pet odours. You can also buy some tea and sprinkle it on the floor stall in the same way to get rid of the odour. This is usually done once a fortnight and the carpet odour is eliminated with a more elegant tea scent.

Oil stains

Remove carpet oil stain method 1: use washing powder (such as no washing powder, talcum powder 1 flour can also be % piled on top of the oil stain, a little sweeping, so that it adsorbs the oil stain on the carpet, and then use a dustpan to pinch away. If there are still residues on the carpet, use a brush with neutral soap to scrub, then brush with water a few times.

Oil stain removal method 2: Oil stains in carpets are the most difficult to remove completely, but can only be reduced as much as possible. The oil can be partially removed with volatile solvents such as petrol or carbon tetrachloride, and the residual part should be thoroughly cleaned with alcohol. When wiping, take care to wipe from the edge of the stain with a rag and gradually reduce it towards the centre to prevent the stain from spreading outwards.
